Abstract

The promotion of films for children and young people isareal concern to OCIC, the International Catholic Film Bureau in Brussels. The author outlines the history of this important Catholic media organization and then describes its contributions to the International Centre for Films for Children and Young People, CIFEJ, which has its seat in Paris. The introduction of new media like video, cable- und satellite television has led to an enormaus increase in programmes offered and also favoured the production of films for children and young people. The author describes the role of OCIC within CIFEJ out of his own knowledge, for he represents the Catholic organization in this international plural group with a rather great influence. A glance at the minutes of the general meetings illustrates this active presence. »A glance at the future«, which finishes the author's contribution, shows how much the Church is engaged in films especially for children and young people.
