Nicht nur in Peking, in ganz China war es in und nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg
um die katholische Hörfunktätigkeit schlecht bestellt. Eine gut dokumentierte Studie
zum damaligen Stand veröffentlichte 194 3 der evangelische Professor der YenChing
Universität, Rudolf Löwenthal. Darin werden alle Funksendungen von
Katholiken und Protestanten aufgeführt. Die Liste katholischer Sendungen ist auch
dann noch lächerlich klein, wenn man jedes Schallplattenkonzert mit Choralmelodien oder die Gelegenheitsansprache eines Bischofs hinzuzählt. (...)

Before and during World War II thcre was no reguhr Catholic radio program in China
other than a Sunday Service (in English) at Shanghai. Through his music plays in the
concentration camp, Fr. Joos became well-known. After liberation, the "Peking Broadcasting Station" invited him to air his oratorio "Tony", one of the most loved plays in camp. Through this there originated a regular production of religious and cultural broadcasts for different programs on this, the biggcst state-owned radio station in China. Work ceased with the occupation of Peking by communist troops.
