Medienreputation und Quellenzugang. Werden alle Journalisten von Behörden und Unternehmen gleich behandelt?

Abstract

Fast jeder Journalist müsste es im Laufe seines Berufslebens schon einmal gehabt haben: das Gefühl, dass Kollegen renommierter und/oder reichweitenstarker Medien bevorzugt behandelt werden. Ist etwas dran am Verdacht, dass die nationalen Medien immer zuerst bedient werden, oder erfolgt die Bearbeitung von Anfragen strikt nach der Reihenfolge des Eingangs? Fallen die Anfragen unliebsamer oder gering verbreiteter Medien öfters mal unter den Tisch? Hat die kleine Regionalzeitung auch eine Chance auf ein Interview mit dem Spitzenpolitiker oder Vorstandsvorsitzenden – und nicht nur das renommierte, reichweitenstarke Nachrichtenmagazin? Mit dem Zusammenhang zwischen der Reputation eines Mediums und den Reaktionen der Quellen hat sich an der Katholischen Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt erstmals eine wissenschaftliche Arbeit beschäftigt.

Janine Damm: Media reputation and source access. Are all journalists trea- ted equally by public authorities and corporations?

Almost every journalist should have experienced it during his professional life: the feeling that colleagues of media that are far-reaching and have a high reputation are treated in a preferred way. Is there any truth in the suspicion that national media are always served first or is the handling of the request strictly done in the order of entry? Are requests of disagreeable and of low print runs often just dropped? And does the small regional newspaper really have a chance of an interview with a high ranked politician or chairman of the board – and not only the well known, respected and far-reaching news magazine? The connection and correlation between the reputation of media and the reaction of the sources is the topic of a scientific study at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.
