Internationale Migration im Kino. Ethische Anmerkungen zur filmischen Präsentation eines globalen Problems

Abstract

Migration ist ein Thema, das nicht nur die mediale Berichterstattung interessiert, sondern auch vom europäischen Unterhaltungskino aufgegriffen wird. Der Beitrag stellt einige der Kinoproduktionen der letzten Jahre vor und möchte dabei klären, welche Botschaft sie verbreiten und welchen Standpunkt sie zur Flüchtlings- problematik einnehmen. Die Spielfilme treten für einen menschlichen Umgang mit Migranten ein, die keine anonymen Zahlen sind, sondern einen Namen und eine dazugehörige individuelle Biografie haben. Trotz der Fiktionalität werden die Geschichten authentisch erzählt. Das medial Präsentierte passiert tatsächlich jeden Tag an den Rändern Europas. Der Beitrag plädiert für den pädagogischen Einsatz der besprochenen Filme, um über Migrationsgründe und den gesellschaftlichen und politischen Umgang mit Flüchtlingen aufzuklären.

Ethical Notes on the Cinematic Presentation of a Global Problem

The topic of migration is not only present in daily media coverage, but also in actu­- al European movie productions. This article introduces some of these movies and attempts to delineate, what message they spread and what position concerning re-­ fugees they occupy. In general the movies plead for a humanitarian dealing with migrants, who are not just anonymous numbers, but individuals with names and a specific biography. Despite being fictional, the stories are told in an authentic way.

What they show is occurring daily on the edges of Europe. The article calls for an edu­cational use of the presented films, in order to clarify the reasons for migration and to raise awareness towards a reasonable social and political treatment of refugees.
