Kommunikationsausbildung im Priesterseminar: Zu einem vatikanischen Dokument

Abstract

Am 19. März 1986 hat der Präfekt der Kongregation für das katholische Bildungswesen, William Kardinal Baum, neue >>Leitlinien für die Ausbildung der künftigen Priester in den Medien der Sozialen Kommunikation<< unterschrieben. Diese Leitlinien wurden in den darauffolgenden Monaten in verschiedenen Sprachen an die zuständigen Bischofskonferenzen, Bischöfe und Seminaroberen der unter kirchlichem Recht stehenden Hochschulen verschickt, an welche sich diese Richtlinien wenden 1 . Dieser Text ist als ein Folgedokument zur >>Ratio Fundamentalis institutionis sacerdotalis<< der gleichen Kongregation anzusehen, die bereits am 6. Januar 1970 veröffentlicht wurde 2 • Schon damals, also noch fast 16 Monate vor der Veröffentlichung der Pastoralinstruktion für die Sozialen Kommunikationsmittel »Communio et Progressio« (23. Mai 1971) war bereits in dieser »Ratio Fundamentalis« festgestellt worden, daß priesterliches Wirken heute ein neues Umfeld mit neuen Notwendigkeiten vorfinde, die auch neue Forderungen an die Priesterausbildung stellten. On march 19th 1986 the Vatican Congregation for Education has published a •Guide to the training of future priests concerning the instruments ofSocial Communication•. After a Ionger introduction general principles and specific norms are presented. The means of social communication in this document are restricted to the mass media only i.e. press, radio, television and film. All other means of communication are regarded as ancillary. This shows an overestimation ofthe mass media which does in no way correspond to the reality of church communication today, e.g. the use of group media in Latinamerica. From the three Ievels for training which are the basis for the special norms only one Ievel really regards the seminary training. A general education for the use of media is an obligation for any school and family (I. Ievel) and the professional specialized training is given by professional institutionsandnot in or by the seminaries (3. Ievel).
