Abstract

In regelmäßigen Abständen beteuern sowjetische Funktionäre und Propagandisten, daß in der Sowjetunion Gewissens-, Glaubens- und Kultfreiheit besteht, daß niemand wegen seiner religiösen Überzeugung Nachteile hat. Übergehen wir diese Behauptung einmal, obwohl sie unwahr ist, und wenden uns nur der Frage zu, ob es in der Sowjetunion für die Bürger religiöse Literatur, religiöse Medien gibt. (... )

The Sovietpropaganda maintains that there are prints and periodicals for religious groups in the Soviel Union. In fact there have been e.g. Bibles printed in the Soviet Union, but their circulation was minimal so that these books are only available on the black-market for the price of about one months' salary. The religious periodicals serve partly propaganda purposes outside the country. The circulation within the Soviel Union is sosmallthat only about every l.OOOth faithful can have a copy.
