Kommunikation und Menschlichkeit

Abstract

"Kommunizieren" war bis vor nicht allzu langer Zeit ein fast ausschließlich religiöser Begriff und in der Feier der Eucharistie bzw. des Abendmahls angesiedelt. Heute kommunizieren feine und vornehme Leute, wo andere schlicht miteinander sprechen. Es ist erstaunlich, wie schnell ein solches Fremdwort wie Kommunikation - das ja nicht einmal zu den einfacheren zählt - bis in unsere Alltagssprache eingedrungen ist. In allen möglichen Verbindungen taucht der Kommunikationsbegriff auf, in Unterschiedlichsten Bereichen ist er heimisch geworden, sogar in der Theologie. (...)

Bishop Moser, the Chairman of the Communications Commission of the German Bishops' Conference, asks if communication - as a meeting between two persons - is generally accepted. Man depends on the contact with others and above that has the right of information, which the journalist exerts in public communication. The purpose of any information however is to serve man. Criteria for this are freedom, truth, openness and respect for the other. The Bishop praises the merits of the media but also asks for possible Iimits of the basic right of information. The Church only wants to engage herself in such communication and media which use for mankind is ethically secured.
