Neue Medien - vernebelte Probleme. Zum Anspruch und zur Wirklichkeit eines kirchlichen Diskussionsbeitrags

Abstract

An der seit Jahren anhaltenden Diskussion über das zukünftige Aussehen der Medienlandschaft - Stichwörter: Bildschirmtext, Kabel-, Satellitenfernsehen usw. - hat sich bislang auch die katholische Kirche mit offiziellen Verlautbarungen vergleichsweise rege beteiligt. Sie hat sich in diesen Wortmeldungen durchgängig zum Anwalt der Interessen des Menschen gegenüber der vorrangigen und einseitigen Berücksichtigung wirtschaftlicher und machtpolitischer Interessen erklärt. Unter diesem Anspruch steht auch die bislang jüngste und umfangreichste Stellungnahme, die der Zentralstelle Medien der Deutschen Bischofskonferenz vom August 1982. (...)

The dmrch participates heavily in the discussion on the new developments of communications media. Here she generally takes the position of an advocate of men towards the economic and political interests. Towards the new media her attitude is quite positive. The author pretends however, that the new document of the Communications Commission of the German Bishops' Conference does not follow this line. She rather covers the raising problems instead of putting them into the open. The new media without doubt, have the tendency to isolate the recipient, dcaden thinking and observing as well the social behaviour of children. The basic content of the paper Iimits itself mainly to the technical possibilities. Because of
this, the document promotes unfortunately, especially economic interests.
