Abstract

Das Verhältnis von den Pädagogen zu den Massenmedien ist mehr von Ablehnung
und Abwertung als von einer angstfreien Kenntnisnahme und Nutzungsbereitschaft gekennzeichnet. Aus dieser zweiten, seltener anzutreffenden Haltung stammt die Tradition der Medienpädagogik. Bei Tagungen zu Medienfragen trifft man auf erstaunlich viele "Medienpädagogen". Was verbirgt sich hinter dieser Bezeichnung? (...)

Education leading to a qualified knowledge of the use of mass media experiences an upward trend with the appearance of a new medium. Media educators are badly equipped to deal with the actual need in media education which are given rise to by the new media. There is, above all, a Iack of consensus concerning goals and content. The translation into practice will only succeed convincingly if these goals and content are consistently based. In order to establish a foundation for sum educational goals, cultural-philosophical ref!ections (on the pedagogical significance of the mass-media) and anthropological viewpoints (on the concept of man in Pedagogy) are presented.
