Liturgie und Massenkommunikation. Kommunikationswissenschaftliche Reflexionen zu einer Lehrveranstaltung

Abstract

Die 1967 errichtete Katholische Theologische Hochschule Amsterdam (KTHA)
beschäftigt sich seit einiger Zeit intensiv mit dem Bereich der Theologie und Massenkommunikation. Dies und das Erscheinen der ersten beiden Veröffentlichungen der KTHA zu diesem Themenbereich2 waren Anlaß zu einer Reflexion über die fünfjährigen Lehrerfahrungen mit den Studenten der Theologischen Fakultät der Katholischen Universität in Nimwegen, Niederlande. Der Stoff und die Erkenntnisse dieser Jahre werden hier auf das Thema der ersten KTHA-Veröffentlichung mit dem "Handlungsziel" Verkündigung und Kommunikation und dem "Handlungsbereich" Liturgie und Massenkommunikation eingeschränkt. The experiences of a five-year teaching for theology students in the field of liturgy and mass media at the Catholic University of Nimegen was also a learning process for the teacher himself. During this it became more and more clear to him how the use of symbols, the role of light, colour, music and art are important elements for creating community and communion. The persons acting in liturgy as weil as liturgical actions themselves can be studied also under the communications perspective. After the Second Vatican Council within the parishes much more different groups have been involved in the preparation and execution of liturgy and
thus a new communicative network was created. If this liturgy however is transmitted via television, the participants become recipients and instead of participating they are receptive persons. This also has special consequences for people from outside the Churches who might not any more understand the symbols and the language used. There is a need for a new symbolic and actionist communications theory where the definition of the situation is central and the "role taking" of the individual whose conditions have to be considered.
