Kurzspielfilme in Unterricht und Bildung

Abstract

Die Bedeutungvon audio-visuellen Medien (A VM)fürrciigiöse Lernprozesse und kirchliche Bildungsveranstaltungen ist in den letzten Jahren deutlicher hervorgetreten. Immer mehr Religionslehrer und Pfarrer, Erzieher und Bildungsreferenten im kirchlichen Dienst verwenden Schallplatten, Tonbilder, Kurzfilme und andere A VM in ihrer täglichen Arbeit. Die verstärkte Verwendung von Kurzspielfilmen hat den Wunsch nach weiteren Produktionen geweckt. Und diese Nachfrage hat ihrerseits zu einer verstärkten Produktionstätigkeit geführt. So entstand u.a. vor einiger Zeit die 4-teilige SchulfernsehSerie "Raumschff Terra 12" (32 2968 - 2971) über Gleichnisse Jesu als Koproduktion mit dem WDR-Schulfernsehen; ebenso der Kurzspielfilm "Im Ernstfall" (32 2948) über
das Gleichnis vom reichen Kornbauern; hinzu kamen im letzten Jahr drei Kurzspielfilme zur ethischen Erziehung mit den Titeln "Was ist los mit Tommy?" (32 3000) und "Du lügst ja" (32 300 I) sowie "Die Prüfung" (32 3024). Weitere Filme dieser Art sollen auch in nächster Zukunft hergestellt werden. (...)

The contribution on "Short Film in School and Education" begins by defining a short film. It then goes on to examine the characteristics of a feature film, and finally asks how consideration ofthe learning situation influences the prodution ofshort films. The following criteria are used to define modern short films: they are chiefly the work ofsingle authors; they are the expression and interpretation of their time; they normally have one single important theme; they frequently use symbols; they evoke an emotional response from viewers, thereby stimulating discussion; they are excellent material for media education; they offer opportunities to producers for experiment and new expressions. The decisive criterion, however, is still the short running-time of live to 20 minutes, which also influences the formal expression and content of such films. Basically, short films follow the same production pattern as feature films. This applies to the selection of content, the development of the script, and other stages of production. Short films for school and education should be geared to the teaching and learning process, and the concrete situation in which they are to be used is a decisive influence
on form and content. Short films for religious education can only be effective and attractive if these elements are considered, as weil as the religious content and the inormation they are to transmit.
