Die kritische Offentlichkeit des Kirchenfunks

Abstract

Verbreiteten Vorstellungen folgend, ist Öffentlichkeit ein dynamisch-progressiver
Faktor im gesellschaftlichen Prozeß, Verkündigung dagegen in ihrer Zuordnung zu
Kirche ein statisch-stabilisierendes Moment. Diese Denkstrukturen werden jedoch
zusehends aufgebrochen: programmatische Schlagworte wie „Verkündigung als
Information" und zahlreiche Publikationen in der theologischen Literatur der letzten Jahre können als unübersehbare Indizien dafür gelten. Öffentlichkeit erscheint nicht mehr als Objekt einer Verkündigung, die sich versteht als „autoritative Proklamation, Lobpreisung und Bezeugung der geoffenbarten Heilstaten Gottes". Sie ist vielmehr .Wesensmedium theologischer Wahrheitsfindung und christlicher Verkündigung überhaupt". Der Begriff der kritischen Öffentlichkeit, der hier zugrundeliegt und der für die aktuelle Diskussion in Kirche und Gesellschaft relevant ist, „beschreibt die politische Existenzform der demokratisch verfaßten Gesellschaft". Clerical thinking in mass media can not be an authoritative proclamation of the truth. On the contrary one must take into consideration the critical public which is to be formed by the mass media as a dimension of proclamation. Proclamation must deal with two aspects: the message of Jesus Christ, and the public. Proclamation is to offer the possibilities of transparence, and controlling of power in the democratic society, as weil as participation in social processes. The departments of religious programs in various broadcasting stations can specifically contribute to form public opinion when they appley a critical Standard following the gospel to events in the church and in society. By means of three TV programs the author shows by example the said possibilities.
