Entwicklung und Kommunikation in der Kirche

Abstract

Spätestens seit der 4.Vollversammlung des ökumenischen Rates der Kirchen in Uppsala
1968 wird in der Kirche die christliche Verantwortung für die Entwicklung der Dritten
Welt erkannt. Einzelne christliche Stimmen, die auf diese Verantwortung auch der
Kirche hingewiesen haben, hat es immer schon gegeben. Um eine Generation verfrüht,
hatte bereits in den frühen vierziger Jahren der nicht hinreichend beachtete Missionsstratege Merle Davies auf diese Entwicklungsaufgaben der Kirche an der Gesellschaft hingewiesen. (...)

Development aid is not a simple humanitarian help, it is supposed to create constructive changes. Development in this sense means to search for a dialogue which is changing social and economical and therefore political and religious patterns. This is not possible without information: a) Information and critical observation on development aid of the churches, b) Information
of the people in developing countries offering the possibilities for a real dialogue.
Here indeed lies a very important task for the social communications work of the churches.
