Optionen einer konstruktivistischen Medienethik angesichts des aktuellen Trash-Fernsehens

Abstract

Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit aktuellen Formaten des Trash- und Trivial-TVs in seinen unterschiedlichen Spielarten: mit Reality-TV und Doku-Soaps, mit Quiz- wie mit Gerichts-Shows. Die Konstruktion von Authentizität als verbindende Klammer a11 dieser Formate legt eine Betrachtung im Rahmen einer konstruktivistischen Medienethik nahe. Diese könnte sich heute mehr denn je als "Entzauberungsprogramm" für die Programme (und die Programmierten!) der Realität des Fernsehens verstehen. (...)

Stefan Weber: Options on a constructivist media ethics in view of current Trash-TV

Questions of media ethics reappear on the agenda of current media research - in order to proofthat just take a look at some current publications or conference topics. The main reason for this resurrected interest in media ethics is the ongoing trivialisation of mass media, especially of television. Tendencies towards Trash- and Trivial-TV not only touch questions of the dignity of man, but are also linked with the general problern of the construction of reality. In bis article, the author tries to link discourses of media ethics with the constructivist media theory as developed mainly in german-speaking countries (by Siegfried J. Schmidt, Klaus Merten and others) . The key argument is: Media reality seen as a construction instead of a picture of the ,world outside' would help to reveal ,realist' media reception. The author argues against the cultural studies perspective which sees every media content from the perspective of the individual's uses and gratifi.cations. Instead of that, a constructivist media ethics would allow a more critical perspective on current media-made realities. (...)
