Christliche Werte prägen die Berichterstattung von Presse, Hörfunk und Fernsehen und haben dennoch keine Chance gegen die Zeitströmungen. Die Nachrichten über den Bürgerkrieg in Bosnien sind Appelle an Nächstenliebe und Versöhnung. Die Darstellung der Rassenkonflikte in Südafrika zeugen von der Notwendigkeit der Brüderlichkeit. Sozialkritische Reportagen über die Rolle der Frauen in der Gesellschaft sind ohne die christliche Vorstellung von der Gleichberechtigung der Geschlechter nicht denkbar, und der Gedanke der Resozialisierung, der nahezu jeden Beitrag über die Kriminalität in der Gesellschaft beherrscht, läßt vergessen, daß Rache einmal der Hauptzweck von Strafe war. Darin besteht der erste Teil des Problems der Außendarstellung christlicher Wertvorstellungen: Die meisten christlichen Wertvorstellungen sind so sehr Allgemeingut des Denkens und Fühlens geworden, daß sie nicht mehr als solche erkannt werden. Sie werden dem Christentum oder den Kirchen nicht mehr zugerechnet. Sie existieren einfach, ohne daß noch deutlich wird, woher sie kommen. Ihre Wertschätzung strahlt nicht mehr auf ihre Quellen aus. Shape and contents of Church press.
The article summarizes the results of a broad analysis of the shape and
contents of 22 German diocesan weeklies. With the help of charts the article
informs about the main themes of articles, the reasons for choosing the articles,
their perspectives and functions within the editorialprogram and th.eir style and
language. On the basis of the results of the analysis fue authors make some
proposals for a better future of the diocesan weeklies. They plead for
funaamental changes in shape and contents. From the viewpoint of the authors,
the aim cannot be to take over actual problems of society oecause then Church
press would loose its own profil and merge into secular press. The aim should
be to connect and fill problems of ilie public with a specific Christian
perspective. The authors believe it to be necessary that editors and publishers of
Church press have to change their view on therr papers which would include
engaging more skilled and professional journalists.
